Joy’s Maui Diary: Highlights of the Week
It has been a busy recovery effort in Maui as we wrap up another week of hard work. I am both awed and humbled by the resilience and dedication of the volunteers working tirelessly to recover the cats and kittens displaced by the devastating fires.
October 10 – Carol, the lunch lady! Carol comes in every day to give wet food, including supplements to all 100 kitties (so far). All the help from volunteers is so appreciated! We love you all!
FieldHaven Feline Center board president Kathy Leonard landed on Maui yesterday to help at the annex recovery center. The first kitty she met was my boyfriend, L577!
October 12 – When Lahaina burned in August, Judy lost the majority of her home cleaning and pet sitting business because her clients’ homes burned. While she slowly rebuilds her business she supplements her income using her artistic skills. Today she delivered a painting she made of L604, commissioned by Jen Paul who is smitten with this handsome guy. Guess who she’s doing next?
October 13 –When two of the most incredible and talented veterinarians you know come to the island to lend a hand.
