My First Blog Post
Hello, everyone!
Let me start out by saying that I am Hot Rod, a 1-year-old kitty from FieldHaven Feline Rescue. I have been at FieldHaven since around October of 2007.
I go by many names. Some of my friends on staff and several volunteers have referred to me in the past as “Princess Hot Rod,” “Hottie,” “Her Hotness,” and then my personal favorite, “Her Majesty.” The other cats at FieldHaven know me by just two names: “Hot Rod” and “The Cat Champ of FieldHaven” (I’m pretty tough if I do say so myself). Some people when they first see me might think I am not that big and bad, but considering the fact that I am under 10 lbs, the cats around here have to think twice before they decide to do battle against me. Well, you judge for yourself, but I say that those two pieces of information make me pretty darn tough.
Life has never been easy for me. I was born with a bladder condition in which I can never feel when I have to go to the bathroom, so sometimes in the past, I have gone to the bathroom without knowing it. Once the veterinarian figured out the problem, she let the staff at FieldHaven know that the only way for me to survive would be to have my bladder expressed at least two times each day for the rest of my life. Believe me, this is not fun, but it has helped me achieve a reputation with the other cats around here as one tough cat. Once I had that reputation, I knew I would have to live up to it and I have done that. Believe me when I say I don’t back down much if at all from any animal at FieldHaven. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t go around looking for fights, but when one comes then I usually do not run and hide. That just is not my style.
I would not be here writing this report if I did not have a lot of people to thank for getting me this far:
The staff at FieldHaven for loving me to pieces each and every day: This includes, of course, my staff mom Jann. She gets the job of helping me empty my bladder each day. She puts up with a lot of fight coming from me, but I do want to thank her for all her help.
I also want to thank all the FieldHaven volunteers for all the love that they have shown to me from day one. Yes, I am a very popular kitty!
The staff at Dr. Jyll’s: This is my home away from home. What I mean by that is, this is where I go when the FieldHaven staff need to board me for a certain amount of time. They have taken great care of me.
Some of my favorite hobbies are running through the trailer at 80 miles an hour (usually play chasing another cat friend of mine), wrestling with my cat friends (I just love to play), and posing for photos. I love to have my picture taken by a certain volunteer, or at least I used to. Now this volunteer has taken so many great shots of me that I am getting bored with having pictures taken. This same volunteer swears that I must have been some really famous model in a past life because I am so beautiful. Well in that respect I have to hand it to him – when you are right then you are right!
This is Hot Rod, signing off for now.
