About Sierra Rea

Born and raised in Sacramento and then the Bay Area, Sierra became aware of her affection for animal welfare at a very young age and found herself often begging her brothers not to hurt the fish they caught when they were kids. Camping and hiking was a favorite past time growing up in California.

Sierra and her husband Matt have three sons. While her kids were young, she worked part-time as a server at Scott’s Seafood Restaurant and Bar and later as a Senior Director in sales.

Her first rescued animal was a feral kitten scooped up from a busy intersection in 2013. The kitten spent three weeks living behind a bathroom sink and hissing anytime anyone came near her. With lots of time and patience she learned to trust and is the best kitty ever!

Sierra really found her passion in animal rescue through her volunteer work at Itsie Bitsie Rescue in 2021. She fell in love with fostering neonatal puppies, and kittens, learning to bottle feed, and provide supportive care, began mentoring other fosters, and facilitating adoptions, while coordinating care for the animals.

While homeschooling her youngest son during the pandemic, fostering 8 puppies, and hatching chicks as an enrichment project for her son, Sierra‘s love for all these animals inspired her to begin a plant based lifestyle to ensure as much kindness as possible for all living things. She loves creating healthy plant based dishes for her family and spending time with her two “foster win” puppies Lily and Sugar, kitty Lucy, and 6 chickens; Karen, Izzy, Kusko, Ruth, Queen Elizabeth, and Cruela.

When not hanging with family or tending to animals she is happy to get her hands in the dirt and loves gardening, and taking care of her 70+ houseplants.

Sierra is very excited to begin a new journey at FieldHaven where she looks forward to learning more about rescue and shelter care, to combine her love for animals with her love for supporting the people who love supporting animals!!

Engaging and empowering communities to ensure every cat has a safe place to live.
