Brick Survived…Because of YOU!
Big Day of Giving is officially here, and thanks to your support, Brick has been given a second chance!
Brick is ten, and was found stuck in a fence at the Marysville Hotel. He was cold and lethargic when Officer Harper of Marysville Animal Care Services found him. She single handedly lifted the fence and coaxed him out, rushing him shortly thereafter to our Marysville Cat Resource Center.
Brick needed immediate help. We gave him fluids to help rehydrate him, soft food, and a warm bed. Despite his rough appearance and apparent medical needs, Brick was incredibly sweet—he hugged everyone who picked him up!
Our very own Dr. Yee gave Brick a complete medical workup. He was diagnosed with dental disease, eye disease, and stenotic nares—a trait bred into him as a Persian—which basically means abnormally narrow, small nostrils. This was particularly concerning because the narrowing restricts the amount of air that can flow into the nose. That means Brick’s infections took a much bigger toll on him, and were painful on top of it!
We did bloodwork to see if there were any underlying conditions, and to ensure he was safe to undergo anesthesia. He also needed some time in foster care, to stabilize his health overall, not to mention, gain some weight. He was barely 3 lbs!
His blood work came back normal, so Brick’s surgeries were scheduled. Poor Brick needed an extensive dental procedure, a rhinoplasty, and to be neutered!
Today, over three months later, Brick is in full recovery mode, but he is doing good. Check out that before and after of his nose!
