12 Saves of Christmas: Day #4 – Clifford
Each day, we’ll share one of FieldHaven’s 12 most heartwarming cat saves of 2021. Each happy story was made possible through your generosity!
Clifford, a young, handsome fella, had been roaming a mobile home park when a FieldHaven volunteer, who was caring for some cats on the property, heard a noise. She turned to see Clifford, who had a bad leg injury, and immediately picked him up and brought him to FieldHaven for care. It didn’t take long for us to see it was too late to save the leg, so we made the decision to amputate. We set him up with a foster home to recover.
The good news? Clifford didn’t let it slow him down! He zoomed all around the house and maintained a playful, social attitude through it all.
The not-so-good news? Clifford tested positive for the Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV). While he was (and is) currently symptom-free and living his best life, it has made finding him a home a bit more challenging. FIV is manageable with a healthy diet, stress-free indoor lifestyle, preventative vet visits, and overall good wellness care, but it’s not for everyone. That’s why Clifford is still at our adoption center, waiting to meet just the right family who will accept him as he is and give him the home he deserves.
Back to the good news: We’re lucky we have you to support us, because without your help, Clifford may not have received the care he needed and his outcome would be very different today. Your donations gave us the opportunity to give Clifford emergency care, then run the appropriate tests to confirm FIV and now, to continue caring for him until a home is found.
It’s because of you that Clifford has been given a second chance today.
When you donate, you’re continuing to help Clifford, and set us up for future success stories.
When you donate right now, you’re making twice the impact, thanks to a generous holiday gift match, because all donations are doubled up to $60,000!
Please donate now! We are so appreciative of all you do for our cats.
P.S.: If you’re interested in meeting Clifford, he’s at our adoption center and would love to have a home by Christmas. Stop by Thursday, 12 PM to 5:30 PM; Friday, 3:30 PM to 6 PM; or Saturday, 10 AM to 4 PM. He’s ready and waiting!
With sincerest thanks and warm wishes for the holidays,
– Joy Smith, executive director of FieldHaven
