FieldHaven Seeks a Special Kind of Help – Be a Hero for Cats!
FieldHaven has been so fortunate in receiving your donations. This time, we need a different kind of support. We really need your help responding to requests for help – we’re simply overwhelmed this summer. Could you volunteer? Could you share this post with a friend who might be interested?
Here’s how it works: Our all-volunteer Community/Cat Assistance Team (CAT) receives a call or email from someone who has heard FieldHaven helps cats and we provide solutions. Some requests are simple; others get more involved. Some people need to talk through a situation. Others seek help getting veterinary care, searching for a lost cat, or finding the owner of a stray kitty.
Responses to common concerns:
- “I don’t have enough time”: We can work with any schedule, from one day a month to a few days a week. Let us know how much time you can commit to, and we’ll find a way for you to provide meaningful help for cats.
- “I don’t want a long-term commitment”: Try it once. That’s fine. If after one shift helping cats in need as part of our CAT crew, it’s not for you, we’ll thank you for giving it a shot and wish you the best. Maybe you can only commit through year’s end. That’s OK, too.If you’d like to help in a different way, we can find other options that may work better.
- “I don’t know how to provide solutions”: We don’t expect you to know how at first. FieldHaven has been doing this a long time. We will set you up for success, with training and handy instructions to handle most situations, and we’ve got your back! If you don’t know what to do, our staff will be right there to assist.
To volunteer, just email us or call (916) 434-6022. It may not be glamorous, but this is important work, even heroic work at times. Really. FieldHaven exists because of help from people like you. Give volunteering a try. You’ll be glad you did.
