About Makenna Whitney
Makenna started her career in animal welfare at a very young age. Her first job was as a Veterinary Assistant at a small private practice veterinary hospital in Fair Oaks, CA. She then worked alongside local veterinary gurus at large community spay and neuter clinics and sizeable private practice vet hospitals throughout Sacramento. In 2018, Makenna held a successful career in the human healthcare system, developing community outreach and education programs for organ, eye, and tissue donation. In 2021, Makenna made the life switch to pursue her dream of obtaining her RVT license and working full-time in animal welfare.
Makenna has obtained her Emergency Medical Technician license through Sierra College and a Bachelor of Science in Family and Consumer Sciences through California State University, Sacramento.
In her free time, Makenna volunteers as a Board Member for a local non-profit animal rescue specializing in newborn abandoned kitten and puppy care in the Sacramento area. Her goal is to make programs work efficiently and effectively to save and enhance the lives of animals needing rescue. When not rescuing animals, you can find Makenna backpacking through the El Dorado Forest with her husband and dog, Moose, or playing tennis.
