About Lorin Short
Lorin’s connection started with FieldHaven before it was even founded. She spent the first four years of her life living on the same property that Joy and Preston would later purchase and turn into FieldHaven. When she was four, her family moved so they could purchase a beautiful house on 2 acres about a mile down the road. Lorin spent her childhood riding her horses and traveling to paint horse shows where she would compete with her mare Tilly and later her gelding Spike. Cats have always been a part of Lorin’s life, starting with her big orange tabby named Buster who was by her side as an infant. As she grew up, she had countless barn and house cats. Lorin and her mom were known to rescue many a cat and get them fixed and let them live on their property or find them homes with friends.
As a young adult, Lorin and her mom started their own small business making and selling horse show clothing for riders. It was a natural fit as they had both been in the horse show world for many years and had a talent for sewing and design. That business flourished for about 12 years until Covid hit and demolished most of their local shows and their customer base. They decided to do something that they had always loved and grown up with and that was buying and selling antiques. They have had a booth at Gypsy Chic Vintage Market here in Lincoln for about 4 years now. In February of 2024 Lorin saw a job posting for the FieldHaven Marketplace and knew that she had to apply. The combination of a thrift store and helping cats could not be a better fit for her and both Joy and George agreed that she was the perfect fit for the Marketplace.
