It’s a Happy New Year for Purrphect
As the hours count down to the new year, we wanted to take a moment to thank you for helping us save countless lives in 2024.
Purrphect is one of many, and at just seven-months-old, she is a true holiday miracle.
She was brought to the ER at the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine a few weeks ago by a good Samaritan. She was incredibly ill and looked very pregnant. She was not—she was struggling with an advanced case of pyometra, a life-threatening uterine infection in unspayed female cats. The local shelter instructed UC Davis to euthanize her, but thankfully, they knew she could be saved if placement could be found.
Of course, when Dr. Vernau at UC Davis reached out to FieldHaven, we said yes!
Overnight, Purrphect had emergency surgery. The following day, she officially arrived in our care. She spent 10 days with a medical foster, then was ready for a home of her own.
Just a few days ago, after spending a quiet Christmas at our shelter, the purrfect couple came in… and you can guess what happened next.

While we love our cats when they’re with us, the less time they stay at FieldHaven, the sooner they can be happy in their home and the more cats we can help. Purrphect’s journey was 19 days long—from being gravely ill, to an emergency surgery without which she would have died, to adoption.
We’re always ready to lend a helping hand to cats and kittens in need, but we can’t do it without your support. Purrphect is thankful to have you in 2024; let’s see how many cats we can help in 2025!
