12 Saves of Christmas: Day #8 – The Second Chance Cats
Each day, we’ll share one of FieldHaven’s 12 most heartwarming cat saves of 2021. Each happy story was made possible through your generosity!
Many of you know that in urgent, unexpected, tough situations where there are no other solutions or the end game is not good, we jump. We jump headfirst to help cats and people in need. When we found out about Ghost, Aries, Spade and Muffsas, it was no different.
A woman had passed away, leaving behind four beautiful, friendly cats. Sadly, they were surrendered to a very tiny shelter with no guarantee of a positive outcome. The staff there knew these four deserved a home, so they reached out to FieldHaven. We agreed to help.
We shared their story on social media, asking for foster homes, or people to adopt. We had no idea all of you would step up so quickly. Within a matter of hours, we had multiple people ready to help, and we didn’t even have the cats in our care yet!
Joy, our co-founder and executive director, was traveling through the city where the shelter was located, so it was perfect timing. She picked up the cats and brought them back to FieldHaven. The very next morning, Ghost, Spade, and Muffsas were placed in a home together. A couple of days later, Aries also went home, and as he was the most relaxed, we knew separating him from his little cat family would be fine. Today, they are all thriving.
We often talk about lifesaving, but this truly was lifesaving. It’s a strong possibility that Ghost, Aries, Spade, and Muffsas would not be here today—but because of good people, they are. Your support allowed us to say yes when we didn’t even have the space! No one was willing to give up on these cats. Ghost, Aries, Spade, and Muffsas are alive because of you.
