12 Saves of Christmas: Day #3 – Snowflake & Cullen MacRobbie
Each day, we’ll share one of FieldHaven’s 12 most heartwarming cat saves of 2021. Each happy story was made possible through your generosity!
Earlier this summer, a gentleman reached out to FieldHaven for help. He had several kittens, one of whom had a bad eye infection. He couldn’t afford vet care, nor did he have transportation. As the infection steadily got worse and the kitten appeared to be in pain, he became concerned; our team began to triage the situation. One of our volunteers who lived in his neighborhood rushed to get the kitten.
Indeed, it was an awful infection. She had lost her eye and needed immediate treatment—surgery would have to wait because she was still too small to handle it. We managed her pain, administered antibiotics, and provided plenty of TLC to get her big and strong so that she could endure surgery. We named her Snowflake, for her adorable cream-colored coat, and her gentle personality.
At this same time, our team was continuing to work with the gentleman to help his other kittens. It turns out he had several cat families, indoor and outdoor, who needed to be spayed/neutered and vaccinated, and required a good amount of wellness care. We worked out a plan, then another emergency hit: he had a second kitten with a bad eye infection, so we didn’t wait—we rushed him to FieldHaven. We named this little guy Cullen MacRobbie. Thankfully, because we all acted quickly, his eye was saved.
Their adventure wasn’t over, as the two kittens would both encounter some bumps along their foster care journey, but the ending is happy. Thanks to you, medical care was covered. Surgeries, treatment, antibiotics, and more—all made possible because of your generosity.
Snowflake received her surgery, and even without an eye, she is gorgeous as ever. She was recently adopted with another kitten, just in time for the holidays.
Cullen MacRobbie also healed nicely, and he, too, is handsome and thriving. He was also just adopted!
