About Delaney Newman
I’ve been rescuing animals since I was a child. I was constantly bringing stray animals home (mostly cats) so they could find good homes. My first official volunteer experience was when I was 10, and I began volunteering at my local animal shelter as well as with a group that focused on spay/neuter advocacy. My love of animals has led me to have numerous cats, dogs, and guinea pigs throughout the years. I’ve always had a particularly close bond with cats, and my current cat Toady is constantly by my side when I’m at home.
I began volunteering at FieldHaven in spring 2019 and have been with FieldHaven in one capacity or another since then. My primary role now is to help with anything shelter cat related including intakes and adoptions, and I often foster the behaviorally challenging cats as well.
I have five associate’s degrees from American River College and graduated from Arizona State University in 2022 with a BA in Anthropology and a BS in Biological Sciences. I’m currently in a graduate program, and during my free time I can usually be found bothering my own fur creatures!
