About Delaney Newman
I’ve been rescuing animals since I was a child. I was constantly bringing stray animals home (mostly cats) so they could find good homes. My first official volunteer experience was when I was 10, and I began volunteering at my local animal shelter as well as with a group that focused on spay/neuter advocacy. My love of animals has led me to have numerous cats, dogs, and guinea pigs throughout the years. I’ve always had a particularly close bond with cats, and my current cat Toady is constantly by my side when I’m at home.
I began volunteering at FieldHaven in spring 2019 and have been with FieldHaven in one capacity or another since then, primarily doing cat care in the shelter. I also foster at times, often the cats with behavioral issues, and sometimes do adoptions as well.
I have three associate’s degrees from American River College and am working on a double major with a minor. I’m hoping to continue working with animals after I graduate, either for work or as a volunteer, and I would specifically like to continue working with shelter animals.
