About Ann Olson
Ann is a transportation engineer (with licenses in both Civil and Traffic Engineering), a college professor, and a passionate lover of animals. She was born and raised in the East Bay Area and first moved to the Central Valley in the 1970’s to attend UC Davis where she obtained two engineering degrees. The next half-dozen years were spent as an engineering management trainee in various locations throughout the western and southern United States. Ultimately, Ann ended up in the Ophir area west of Auburn when she married her husband Art in the early 1980s.
After 40 years in engineering (including owning her own transportation company for over 20 years), Ann obtained a graduate degree in Theology from Fuller Theological Seminary and was hired by William Jessup University. In addition to teaching Theology, she serves as an instructor for the Business Department (primarily teaching the quantitative classes) and the Adult Degree Completion program.
In addition to engineering, Ann has always been involved in the nonprofit world having served on the Board of the California Transportation Foundation (including three years as Chairperson of the Board), built and led a large Northern California team for an international Christian relief organization, and has been involved in leadership roles at various churches. She was an elected official having served four years on the Ophir Elementary School Board of Trustees (including two years as President of the Board).
Ann and her husband have eight indoor/outdoor kitties (one of which was adopted from FieldHaven) and four semi-feral outdoor cats on their two-acre property. Thanks to Art, they are also the local feeding destination for birds of various varieties, many squirrels, skunks, opossums, and five peacocks. Ann is also “grandma” to her son’s Border Collie (Ollie), his German Shepherd/Husky mix (Gracie), and his three cats (two of which were adopted from FieldHaven).
When not hanging out with her many animals, Ann likes to read (especially Presidential and First Lady biographies), travel, take long walks with her granddoggies, and watch San Francisco Giants baseball and University of Southern California football.
