Laurel

By Laurel, FIP Star
Hey guys! My name is Laurel. I have had a crazy life so far! You see, when I first came to FieldHaven from the Stockton Animal Shelter, I was in very rough shape. I was so sick; the vets at that shelter did not know what to do with me, so they asked FieldHaven to give me a chance.
When I arrived, I could not get to the litter box, was not eating, had lost my eyesight, and was almost lifeless. It was suspected that I had that nasty thing everybody calls FIP! Before I could begin treatment, I had to get a blood transfusion because I was far too anemic. Luckily, my buddy Champy donated his blood to me – that was the beginning of my lifesaving journey.
I quickly began my daily injections to help me get past FIP along with daily oral medications and fluids. This went on for a whole 84 days! Then I had to be observed for another whole 84 days! But here I am now, cured!
I need to be honest, this crazy journey has made me pretty shy. I have some PTSD from my daily injections and prefer my feline friends to human friends because of that. Thankfully, my meek personality didn’t stop me from getting adopted by an amazing new mom! Now, I am living my best life as a healthy, playful young kitty and I’m getting all the love I could ever want!
