Volunteer of the Year 2013
Congratulations to Jared Hill!!
The Volunteer of the Year was announced at our volunteer party on August 17th and it was quite a surprise for Jared. Instead of a bouquet of flowers, he received a "bouquet" of cat treats (hmmm, wonder who he'll give those to?).
Here is what our volunteers and staff members had to say about Jared:
"He has a huge heart. It is not just for cats but for people as well, and I think this genuine interest and caring for others helps her be a great ambassador for the cause."
We couldn't talk about Jared without asking Hottie what she thought about our very special friend.
"He sees and believes in the best in people. I don't think I have ever heard him say anything unkind about anyone. WOW, what a lesson we could all learn from him."
"If he calls you friend he means it. His passion for animals and people who care about animals shines through everything he does."
"When I was in the hospital he emailed me frequently to let me know that he had been making sure to spend extra time with Rio and Parker so that they knew they were loved. He would tell them that I would be back soon and that I loved and missed them. That really helped me and is just a small example of how much he cares about the people he loves."
"He bolsters me when I'm having a tough day and brings me special gifts to cheer me up."
"If something needs to be done, and he can do it, he does."
"He loves all the kitties at the shelter but what I love is how he can take on the persona of a cat and talk from their perspective."
"Although I am sometimes willing to share my special friend with other people Uncle Jared BELONGS TO ME! For years he has been coming to the shelter to bring ME treats but I let him share them with the other cats. Although I never know what day of the week it is, I always know its Monday when Jared shows up. It's my favorite day of the week."
We know that Jared's huge, compassionate heart has touched everyone at FieldHaven.
CONGRATULATIONS to Jared Hill, FieldHaven's 2013 Volunteer of the Year!
