We receive many requests to accept cats and kittens into FieldHaven from all types of
situations; owner surrenders, rescued kitties, strays - you name it! Unfortunately, our space
at the shelter and in foster homes is limited so we cannot take in every cat. However, we
do make an effort to assist in every request! Having a problem with your cat's behavior?Behavior Hotline - We're Here to Help!Whether you're having issues with a new arrival from FieldHaven or just need advice about an existing
member of your feline family, FieldHaven is here to help. First, check out our resource library
which has articles on many cat behavior issues -- if your new kitty isn't being accepted with open paws by
your resident pets, if there are litterbox or spraying issues, on social behavior and much more. A CAT volunteer will get back to you as soon as possible. Please understand we are volunteer staffed so it may take several days for a response, but we will contact you.
Have a cat you'd like to bring to FieldHaven? If you own a cat that you would like to re-home you can have access to our resources and volunteers' expertise in finding homes for cats and kittens. You can place you cat on our Courtesy/Waiting List, list the cat on our website and even bring your kitty to our outreach adoption events to meet potential adopters. Our resource library has an excellent reference for how to place your cat - How to Find Homes for Pets offers you some tips and helpful advice. Our volunteers are also available for questions and counseling.
Fieldhaven was able to offer me incremental assistance (listing, showings, and finally taking over care) when I couldn't get any of the other shelters to work with me (except the ones who wouldn't guarantee he wouldn't be euthanized). -- Allen Gina Spadafori, Pet Columnist for the Sacramento Bee, wrote an excellent article on placing adult cats --
