Now retired from working with the "big cats", Dawn Simis, Founder, Director of Wild About Cats, a shelter for captive bred wild felines, is working with her new FieldHaven feral Barn Cats and writes:
I took the cell phone out to show you all where they're at. Venice gets petted daily. Briggs is "interested" in getting some of that good stuff, he watches and even comes up and rubs on Venice's other side while I'm petting her, but won't let me reach toward him. Tijuana is very bold and only leaves (never bolts) if I get beyond her comfort zone, but I can get very close. I reach for her after she watches me pet Venice, and with Venice's scent on my fingers, I think some day soon she'll reach and sniff my fingertips. They have toys now and they get played with daily. Briggs is such a kitten, he loves to play and rub on his "auntie's".
Happy New Year!
Scout & Lorraine (Rescuers) write:
If you had seen the terrible situation they came from, you would realize what your love has done for them. As you know feral cats have very few opportunities for a good life, let alone one filled with love and safety. They have come so far and I bet in time all three will be rubbing against your legs. We canít thank you enough for what you have done. With all that you give and have given to cats big and small you are an angel on earth.
